Cemetery -- Burial Plots

Through an affiliated but separate nonprofit corporation, the Cemetery Association of Shomrei Emunah, congregation members in good standing have access to affordably priced burial plots for themselves and members of their immediate families at cemeteries not far from Montclair.

Eric Singer is president of the Cemetery Association.To inquire about purchasing burial plots, members are asked to contact the synagogue office.

Cedar Park, Paramus

Shomrei Emunah purchased plots here, a 15-minute drive from the synagogue, in 1996, and about 20 remain available. The price is $750. The Shomrei section is marked by two small stone obelisks.

Menorah Cemetery, Clifton

Shomrei Emunah purchased a section here in 1965, but all plots are filled. The Shomrei section, halfway up a hill with a view of the New York skyline, is marked by two granite pillars.

Grove Street Cemetery, Newark

Shomrei Emunah purchased a section here in 1921. There are at least 30 plots still available in what is also sometimes called the Newark Jewish Cemetery. The price of a plot is negotiable, as the cemetery’s upkeep has been inconsistent. The Shomrei section is marked by a stone arch with the inscription, “Shomrei Emunah – Keepers of the Faith.”
