B'nai Mitzvah Profile - Isabel Berman

Bat Mitzvah Date - November 19, 2011

Hi, my name is Izzy Berman. As most of you know, on November 19 I will be called up to the Torah for my Bat Mitzvah. Besides studying for my Bat Mitzvah, I enjoy singing, acting, shopping and writing. I live with my parents Leon and Dawn Berman and my little sister Gabby. I am in seventh grade at Glenfield Middle School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

In my torah parshat, Chayei Sarah, Rebekah demonstrates loving kindness when she offers water to both Abraham’s servant and his camels. The Hebrew word for loving kindness is gemilut chasadim. I feel the world needs more gemilut chasadim and that’s why I chose my Bat Mitzvah project. For my Bat Mitzvah project, I bake and sell sweets – lemon bars, cookies – and donate the proceeds to the toy/art cart program at the Children’s Hospital of St. Joseph’s Medical center. If you would like to purchase yummy treats for a good cause, it’s not too late. I will be pursuing my Mitzvah project for my entire Bat Mitzvah year. Please email at: dlberman2@comcast.net.

I would like to thank Rabbi Greenstein, Merrrill Silver and Judy Jaffe for all of their support as I prepared for this important day. I would also like to thank all of my JLC teachers, my parents and my sister.
