Heather Brown, Director of Education
Heather joined Congregation Shomrei Emunah in 2013 as the Preschool Director, where she enjoyed connecting with young families and helping to foster nurturing relationships with Shomrei's youngest constituents. In 2016, she expanded her position to include the JLC, becoming the Education Director for Shomrei. She works to bridge the educational, social, and spiritual journey for families moving from the preschool through the religious school journey and beyond. With an MAEd from the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, she has worked in a variety of Jewish education settings for 20 years, both as a teacher and administrator. Most recently, she served as the Director of Young Family Programs at the JCC in Manhattan. Heather and her husband Seth live in West Orange and are both active in the MetroWest Jewish community. They have a son and a daughter who both attend Golda Och Academy. Heather looks forward to connecting your family with the greater Shomrei community!
Lilly Lucey, Assistant Director, JLC
For the past twelve years, Lily has worked at Congregation Beth Shalom in Clearwater, Florida. She served as B’nai Mitzvah Teacher & Coordinator, prayer and song leader, cantorial soloist at synagogue and community events, religious school music teacher, and was often involved with synagogue and holiday programming. She is passionate about teaching Torah and Haftarah trope and Shabbat t’filot to students and their families with the hope that they will carry these skills with them for their future participation in synagogue life. She believes strongly in the importance of establishing relationships with students and families as they find their personal relationships with the Jewish experience.
Aylah Winter, Assistant Director, JLC
Since moving to Montclair three years ago Aylah has become involved in the Shomrei community. She has served on the education board for the past two years and worked in the preschool as an assistant teacher. Over the last year she also worked to coordinate travel to Israel for individuals, families and groups with a private tour operator. Prior to moving to Montclair, Aylah and her family lived in Manhattan where she worked for several Jewish non-profit organizations. Most recently, she worked for American Jewish World Service coordinating their international Alternative Spring Break program for Hillel students around the country. Aylah is passionate about experiential education and its value with young adults. During this time she had the opportunity to travel extensively through central America.
Rabbi David Greenstein
Rabbi Greenstein arrived at Shomrei Emunah in August 2009 with a rich, broad and deep background as a rabbi, cantor, artist, scholar, and teacher. Being Shomrei’s rabbi, he says, allows him to draw on all of these passions, as well as his lifelong commitment to building Jewish communities. The Rabbi is extensively involved in the JLC and conducts Mincha services with the kids on Wednesday afternoons. Parents welcome!
