Executive Director -- Marge Wise
A seasoned synagogue administrator, Margery Wise brings to her crucial, central role at Shomrei Emunah an undeniable love of people, an unbridled enthusiasm for synagogue life, and extensive experience nurturing and developing a strong culture of volunteerism.
Marge is responsible for the full spectrum of synagogue management: building and grounds, facilities, security, the Website, calendar, communications and marketing. She also takes an active hand in membership outreach, programming and fundraising. She prides herself on working collaboratively with committee members and on reaching out to all ages and all corners of the synagogue’s population.
“My passion is working in the Jewish community,” she says, “helping people connect with our heritage, and helping people forge positive connections to the synagogue and to Jewish life.”
She joined Shomrei Emunah in 2009 from Congregation Sons of Israel, a large synagogue in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., where she was executive director from 2000 to 2008. She also was the owner of the Jewish Quarter, a retail Judaica store in White Plains, N.Y., for 11 years – and once shipped 300 menorahs to members of the U.S. armed forces during the first Gulf War.
She is the widow of Rabbi Joseph Wise, who for three decades led the Northeast Jewish Center in Yonkers, N.Y., where Marge recently served as synagogue president. She is fully conversant with Jewish tradition and has taught Jewish studies to children and to adults.
She is the mother of two grown children, both of whom live in New Jersey, and is an adoring grandma of eight.
Marge’s people skills, energy, and organizational mastery greatly enhance our community.
