B'nai Mitzvah Profile - Sebastian Posada

Bar Mitzvah Date - November 12, 2011

My name is Sebastian Posada, and my bar mitzvah is November 12th. I go to Glenfield Middle School, and am in 7th grade. At school I’m in the jazz band and the orchestra, playing saxophone. One of my hobbies is playing video games. Another is reading.

My Torah portion is va-yera. This is the portion with Sodom and Gomorrah, and the binding of Isaac. My Haftarah reading has two stories, both concerning the prophet Elisha. A lot of the stories share a connection in travelling. There are the three travelling angels, Abraham and Isaac traveling to the mountain, and Elisha travelling to Shumen.

For my mitzvah project, a few friends and I put a band together. The members are Daniela Posada, Nathan Farrell, Austin Klewan, Maya Stepansky, Jeremy Stepansky and Mike Polasek. We are going to play at nursing homes and hospitals, or take money we get and give it to charity. I’ve had a lot of fun in this band, and I hope we can continue meeting, after I finish the project.
