More Opportunities to Help the Homeless

SHOMREI NEEDS YOUR HELP (SOON!) FOR HOMELESS FAMILIES AUG. 8 - 15

Shomrei will be hosting four homeless families next month as part of the Interfaith Hospitality Network, and we are very short of volunteers, so please pitch in even if -- especially if -- you've never done this before. These are families with young children who could not find space together in the county shelter system and they need our help. They will be staying at Grace Presbyterian Church on Grove and Chestnut, but we will provide the coordination, entertainment, meals and overnight supervision.

Please join in this opportunity for all generations to do rewarding community service together. Meal preparers can cook at home and bring the meals to the church. Please email dale.russakoff@gmail.com if you can participate.

Here are the tasks for which we still need volunteers. Please pick one and RSVP.

1. Evening coordinators (5-9 pm) on Weds, Thurs, Fri and Sat. (Aug. 11-14) One adult for each night.
2. Families or individuals to cook and deliver dinner Sunday, Aug. 8, Thursday, Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 14. Also serve it from 6-7 p.m.
3. People of all ages to play games with the young children and visit with the parents (7-9 p.m.) on Sunday, Aug. 8; Tuesday Aug. 10; Thursday Aug. 12 and Saturday, Aug. 14.
4. Adults to sleep over (9 p.m. to 7 a.m.) on Monday, Aug. 9; Wednesday, Aug. 11; Friday Aug. 13 and Saturday
   Aug. 14.
5. Doctors to be on call all 7 nights in case of an emergency.
6. Drivers to be on call Sunday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in case of an emergency.
7. We also need volunteers to help set up the morning of Aug. 8 and help clean up the afternoon of Aug. 16.
