The SHALOM Program

The SHALOM program (Shomrei Helps All Learners Of Montclair) is a joint program between Shomrei’s Social Action Committee and a number of Montclair’s public schools to provide volunteer tutors and guest lecturers. Examples of our efforts include:

• Tutoring in a classroom during the school day.
• Tutoring during students' lunch hours.
• Participating in after-school tutoring and/or literacy programs.
• Guest lecturing on an area of expertise.  Examples of volunteers to date include a TV and film producer, a portrait artist, and a jazz flutist.  
  
• Volunteering to tutor during the evenings or on the weekends.
